So, as I stated yesterday, my first resolution was to be healthy. So here is my plan.
In January, I have two short term goals.
1. Track what I eat - I need to understand what my food issues are in black and white.
2. Exercise 6 times a week - I'm used to training for triathlon, so this may seem extreme, but not so much. I'm not going to worry about the intensity of the workouts for this month, just to do the six consistently.
I had also heard that the best way to get into a routine that works is to automate things (Thanks, Dr. Oz). This makes a lot of sense to me, so I'm going to attempt to automate as much as I can. Stick to a set breakfast and lunch routine. The easiest way to do that is to plan ahead for my lunches. I've separated portions of veggies that I can just grab in the morning, and we've make lunches of home-made soup and chili (thanks to my excellent cook husband) so my lunches are easy. Then for my exercise, my plan is to the following exercises on the following week days, hoping to start a good workout routine;
Monday - strength video
Tuesday - Run
Wednesday - Bike
Thursday - cardio video
Friday - off
Saturday - swim
Sunday - Run
From experience, this seems like a good plan for me. Today I went back to the pool for the first time since the summer. It feels fantastic. Although I find swimming challenging, its a good use of workout time, and I find that I can relax my mind while I'm swimming. Having a small pool in my apartment building is certainly a good thing!
Wish me luck!
